Famous Cities. By Abril Tzab Cuevas.

Places I’ve visited and would like to visit

In October, I visited Mexico City and I definitely loved it. I thought that it would look the same

as the city I live in, Merida, but it was quite the opposite. It was huge and there were

buildings that looked completely different from the buildings we have here in Merida. I really

liked visiting the different buildings that they have, especially the Cathedral because of how

big and beautiful it is. I also visited the historic center and it was really interesting because

while you walk, you can find different restaurants and stores where people sell all different

kinds of things. I really liked Mexico City, especially because the weather was nicer than

here in Merida, it was kind of cold and I really liked it. What I didn’t like was the traffic, it’s

way worse than the traffic here in Merida because of how many people there are. So if

someone asks me if I didn’t like Mexico City, on the contrary, I really liked it and would

definitely go back again.

A city that I would absolutely like to visit is Venice, which is located in Italy. If I go someday I

would totally go to the Canals, I believe the Canals are something no tourist would miss if

they ever go to Venice. I would also love to visit the different famous bridges there are, like

the enclosed Bridge of Sighs, and the Rialto Bridge. I’ve heard Venice is a noisy city, but I

believe that it’s a calm city to a certain extent, and it also has really beautiful views that are

totally worth seeing. One place that I would not go to in Venice is Palazzo Dario, I heard that

the place is ‘’haunted’’ because every person who has lived there has either committed

suicide or died because of a strange reason, so no, absolutely not, I would never go to that

place.

In November of 2021, I went to Chicago city in Illinois, USA.

And with that experience I would absolutely say that I loved it, it is a beautiful city. I like to say that the City is divided in two, one part that is like "new" and the other like the oldest part, but it was definitely cold but really cold. My brother and my dad wanted to see a "Chicago Bulls" game but we didn't have enough money to and at the time we were there it wasn't a game.

Also, we ate deep-dish pizza and I have to say that it is one of the best pizzas I ever had, absolutely recommended it.

We went to the Willis Tower, the second-highest tower in the world, only before the "Burj Khalifa". It is high and the high things scare me, so I was scared up there, and for people like me, it is enjoyable up to a point.

I want to say that the train there is a bit confusing, but it was surprisingly cheaper than the other transport methods.

Also, we went to the "Bean" where it was recording a Netflix series, so… I appeared on Netflix!

So if you think Chicago is boring, it's quite the opposite! It was a beautiful City and if I could I would go again.

In order, I would like to visit Sevilla, the major trade center of the extinct Spanish

empire and the most important city of the 16th century to a certain extent. I would

visit the roman structure that the Guadalquivir river crosses and second place could

also go to the city of Madrid, the capital of Spain, to see the Escorial and football at

the stadium up to a point. On the contrary, I will be looking there at the aqueduct of

Segovia in that area, an important site for historians quite the opposite of the

Madrid stadium zZz but absolutely everyone will see the fortress of that same city.

Finally, I would decide to go to Rome, yes and no; yes for the Sistine Chapel and all the

all structures but I would not go because is very far and it would be absolutely not

because it has to be another slow through the Eurotunnel and the rules are very strict,

quite the opposite of the Mexican cities that are insecure.

I definitely stay on my favorite peninsula living in the tropical landscape for one more

decade.

Las Vegas (USA)

My experience: It was lovely, it’s a city that’s very beautiful. I liked it very much. I definitely

recommend going because you will have a great time. Up to a point that we stayed there for

two weeks and then we went to New York, we stayed there for a week and a half. :)

Florida (USA)

My experience: It is very calm and beautiful, I would recommend going there for summer

vacation, on the contrary, it is very hot and I wouldn’t recommend wearing sweaters and

pants. :]

Miami (USA)

We went on a trip with my family about 10 years ago to Miami. We stayed in a hotel and then

we went to Florida because Disney was in Orlando. We absolutely enjoyed the trip so much

and I liked everything :)

 Porto Alegre
One city that I have visited many times in the past and will definitely go back to is Porto Alegre, the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. My experience there is always fun since I go there to visit family. Recently the city has been growing and it's getting lots of new improvements like the Orla do Guaíba, which is a giant park where people go to all the time since there’s a great variety of options to do there so the last time I went to the city I absolutely needed to spend an afternoon there. Also, you can see that the whole city is full of trees and vegetation and it always got my attention since that’s quite the opposite of where I used to live. I also love going to Porto Alegre for the food because, in my opinion, Brazilian food is one of the best (especially the desserts).

San Diego.
Another city that I love visiting is San Diego, a city located on the Pacific Ocean coast of Southern California. I used to go on summer vacations to Porto Alegre, the previously mentioned city until we started to go to San Diego because of the competitions my dad’s work involved. The thing with that city is that there are lots of amusement parks there or near like Legoland, Disney, Universal, Sea World, etc., and my father’s student has a daughter between my age and my brother’s so because of that, he would invite us to go to those amusement parks every year, up to a point where my brother got tired of going to Disney. But I loved going there because of other things too, such as the beach (where the water was so cold only I could enjoy it and with waves so big that my mom and brother would absolutely not enter with me), and there’s also the fact that there’s a Barnes & Noble and Marshalls. I could stay for hours in those stores without tiring that it got to a certain extent

 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Milwaukee is an old or vintage-style city in which you can relax, and enjoy a great variety of

gastronomy and with a lot of museums and sights to visit of course home of the NBA team,

the Bucks I visited the art and Harley-Davidson museum, went to a Bucks, in which they definitely

won, and also had breakfast in a restaurant that was an old firefighter station and it was delicious.

Some people might think that it is boring because it is a quiet city but it is quite the opposite.

I am absolutely going back one day.

Paris, France

Paris is a city known for its museums and tourist attractions, the most famous attraction is probably

the tour Eiffel it is 300 meters tall, you can get to the top of the tower via elevator, at the top there

is a lot of cold and wind, it felt like I was going to freeze. You can buy food, drinks, and souvenirs.

The Louvre museum is also located in Paris, and its main attraction is the Mona Lisa. I also visited the

catacombs, an underground tunnel whose walls were human skulls, it would be absolutely

impossible for a claustrophobic to enter. In the end, I definitely liked the city and would absolutely

come back.

Costa Rica

When I arrived at the airport my first impression was that it was really pretty and outside I looked

like a jungle because there were a lot of trees in the city and that was what I saw while I was in the

car until I arrived at the house of my parent’s friend. The city had a lot of buildings with skyscrapers

which surprised me a lot and it was pretty calm when I thought it would be quite the opposite

I didn’t have time to visit everything I wanted to but I would definitely like to go back to do all the

things a didn’t have time to do.

I have visited various places with my family, and we enjoy traveling. Some of the sites have been

Campeche, which is one of the closest ones to Merida, to a certain extent, I think Campeche is a

beautiful place, especially El Centro up to a point I think it's a very quiet place but still nice.

Another is Cappadocia, Turkey

It's one of my favorite cities that I have visited so far and the weather is amazing, most people

think that the pictures that are taken there are fake or photoshopped because they are so amazing

but on the contrary, it is exactly like the pictures and there are so many things to do there like go on a

hot air balloon ride and visit the old architecture, it is amazing.

And lastly, Athens Greece

Athens is definitely a very busy city and there are times the weather is very hot or very cold when

you visit Greece some of the main things to do are visit where the first Olympics were held and the

Parthenon in the Acropolis.

Famous Cities. By Alvar Noe Catzin Fernandez.

On my trip, I went to a lot of places and I want to talk about the 2 places that I enjoyed the most.

First, I want to talk about Egypt, it was a great experience having a tour around the pyramids and the other ruins of the archeological zone, up to a point, because of the weather, the sun was huge it was quite the opposite of where I live, then I went to the museums of the place and there were absolutely interesting up to a certain point because I got bored, so did I like it yes and no there were some things that could I better than they were.

The second place that I want to talk about it is Alaska, on contrary to Egypt Alaska was a cold place with be views, then me and some friends decided to climb part of Mount Everest, now you are questioning does it was easy? Absolutely not, we weren't prepared for that but we managed to climb to the point we wanted.

I enjoyed that trip and I would recommend more places that I have visited.

I went to Chicago in 2021, and I definitely loved it.  My dad and I enjoyed it to a certain extent because we had some tense moments.

We went to The field museum and we absolutely loved it but after hours of walking in the museum we decided to leave but something went wrong with the app we were
using to move, and we had to walk a lot more to the nearest bus stop that took us to the airport and from there we had to look for a taxi, it wasn´t an enjoyable experience for a lot of
people but for me and my dad it was quite the opposite because we got to enjoy a lot of the city.

Last week, also with my dad we traveled to México City we were really excited because we went to The Hell and Heaven Metal festival to see Kiss's Last Mexican concert and we also
watched Megadeth, Anthrax, Stryper, POD, and lots of bands. We thought it was going to be really noisy and it definitely was.
It was really cold and we absolutely not were ready so we bought scarfs, and gloves and with all of that it was freezing up to a point where you could see the steam coming out of your
mouth.

 Mexico City

To a certain extent it is a safe place, definitely is a nice place otherwise there is a lot of pollution, it

is absolutely not a place to live on the contrary there is a lot of traffic to a certain extent it is a

good place to be on vacation it is absolutely a beautiful place to live yes and no yes because it is

a beautiful place and not because there is a lot of traffic and because there is a lot of pollution.

Two months ago, we went on a trip to 3 different places of Mexico. The first one we visited was Izamal, it’s a really small place but with some beautiful places to visit like the Convento. We had dinner and then we went to the next place of the trip, which was Cancún.

We spent a week in La Riviera Maya eating a lot of fish, potatoes, juice and more. Cancún is a beautiful beach and has a lot of different activities to do like swimming, eating, surfing, fishing, sleeping, eatingandt again, etc. Then we went to Yuca-York to pass2 weeks and definitely the most beautiful Hotel in Mexico Colonia San Benita but the Center was quite the opposite it had a bad smell but a lot of different restaurants to eat at and absolutely the best food. Definitely it’s a really good place to visit and pass the week the first place I recommend to you is

Yuca-York is a really beautiful place to go eat and buy things then it is Cancún that is a such a good place to pace the days with your family with a lot of activities to do and different things to eat like Yuca-York then and least is Izamal that for me is definitely a bad place to go because it's really small with not a lot of things to do.

 Berlin

Actually, I already went to Berlin, Berlin is the capital of Germany, the people are very friendly, that if the bottles of water cost more than 5 euros, I don't remember much because I went when I was 6 years old and honestly, I didn't enjoy it because it's pure history.

Suva

It's in Fiji, it's an island located in the oceanic continent.

I've never been to Suva but would like to go.

If I go to Suva, I will definitely go to the precious beaches there.

The things I would like the most are the food and the experiences that I could have like diving or snorkeling but on the contrary, there are dangerous animals.

I would like to go there because it’s a place where you could have a great time with your family or friends

 FAMOUS CITIES

We are going to write about famous cities that we have already visited and enjoyed. We want to write about It and share our experiences and important facts, the cities we are going to talk about are: Mexico City and Alabama

Mexico City:

Is located in the valley of Mexico, in the country of Mexico It was founded on 13 March 1325, 697 years ago. When I was there, I went to the emblematic Places, like the Torre Latino, zócalo, Coyoacan, six flags, Estadio Azteca, KidZania, Xochimilco, Auditorio Nacional, the basilica of Guadalupe, etc.…, when I (Belén) was there we went to the Torre Latino but I was dizzy and after that, I vomit in the Subway, it was horrible, but because I have family there, I won´t go very often, but I went like 3 or 4 times. I like everything in Mexico City, don't they have everything the only thing I don't like is the traffic and the insecurity, only that except that I enjoy every moment with my family AND I enjoy traveling so I enjoy It more! Definitely, II would go again I would like to go for my birthday to see my family, but in general, I recommended AND explore every single place it's a wonderful City to be!

Alabama:

Is located in the South of the United States. When I was there I had an amazing time I was in a City called Huntsville, there is a small town called Madison about 30 minutes from Huntsville and I spent a whole summer there, this summer was the 3rd Time that I was there, it's so beautiful we can go to had an adventure and go shopping we have everything there, It Is one of the centre of the NASA, and military too, so is so exciting, there are places like Monte Sano, Big Spring, The botanical park, bridge street, Top golf, Target, etc.…AND being there we moved around the state and we go to Nashville, and It Is like 40 minutes or an hour apart, It Is amazing It Is the state of the country music, there is the Grand Opry, almost everyone hears that type of music, it's amazing. We spend my aunt's birthday in Atlanta AND we went, to the Coca-Cola site, The aquarium, and the zoo, I remember one night It was late and we didn't know anything there, and we have to take dinner, we were lost, so we take dinner in a place of pizza but they were almost to close but they were good people so they left us a little bit more of Time. I would recommend going there, it's in the middle of big cities too, and there too they have a lot of things to do so it's amazing you are going to enjoy yourself very much!

Bacalar:

I know I should write about a big city, but this magical town means a lot to me. Bacalar is a town in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located in the south of its territory about 40 km north of the capital, Chetumal. Bacalar is located on the banks of the Bacalar Lagoon, the most important of the lagoons in the south of Quintana Roo and a great tourist attraction. It is, since February 2, 2011 head of the municipality of the same name.

Famous Cities: San Cristobal de las Casas. By Itzel Estrella Ku Chablé.

San Cristobal

It is located in the north of Mexico.

San Cristóbal de Las Casas is a Mexican city, the seat of the administrative powers of the homonymous

municipality in the state of Chiapas. It is the largest urban center in the Los Altos de Chiapas region

and the third most populous in the entity, behind Tuxtla Gutiérrez and Tapachula.

I really liked how they still conserve their ancient architecture and I really liked their typical food

I did not like to walk a lot and also the weather was not pleasant at all

we visited the temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the ecological reserve, and the Moxviquil orchid

garden, the cathedral of St. Christopher Martir

I would like to go back because I would like to visit its places and attractions.

Famous Cities. By Zamia Guerrero.

I haven’t been to many cities but the ones I've been to are Chicago and Orlando, both located in the United States and Monterrey, located in Mexico. I’m also looking forward to visiting London, Paris, and Madrid in February of next year.

I visited the city of Chicago last year. The first time I went there was mainly to get vaccinated, so we didn’t stay longer than 3 days. But on the contrary, in Orlando, I stayed there for about 2 weeks. And Monterrey was definitely a whole different experience. You could say that I enjoyed it to a certain extent, but it wasn’t really as brilliant as Orlando or my second trip to Chicago.

The second time I went to Chicago was for my second dose of the vaccine, this time we stayed longer so we could explore the city. I went to my first baseball game there, tried the best pizza I've ever eaten, went to various museums, visited a fair where I got a ride in the Chicago fortune wheel, visited the giant bean, and had a ride along Lake Michigan. I was freezing but I absolutely loved it.

I don’t have a clear memory of my trip to Orlando because it was a while ago, I went with my family to Disneyland and Universal. In Universal I remember my brother convinced me of getting into a Jurassic Park attraction, he told me it was chilly but that was quite the opposite. In the middle of the ride, I started crying, but in my defense, I was 6 years old.

Famous Cities. By Regina Campos, Mattias Horneffer and Karla Vidal.

 CITIES I WENT TO

Spain. (Europe)

Up to a point, I have no memories of Spain. But what I do remember is that I always went on summer vacations. It wasn’t hot nor cold and I always bought candies named “regalices”.

On the opposite of what others may think, I did travel to another country, where my great grandmother’s house is, Galicia, but I never left the house, so I don’t remember anything about the exteriors.

One thing that I ABSOLUTELY loved was the fact that I was able to wear sweaters.

One of the reasons I would visit again is to visit my family and eat as much ”regalices” as I want

Orlando (United States)

I actually went twice to Orlando, the first time I went with just my mom, her boyfriend, and his son. The reason we sent her was that we wanted to go to Disney and sometimes we actually did the same thing, both trips were fun up to a point because in both some inconvenience happened.

But it was definitely a good experience. And I will absolutely go back, especially for that Turkey leg

Berlin (Germany)

I have never been to Germany, but I really want to visit this city. It is a huge city with one of the most advanced technology and respectful people in the world.

It is a cold place so I could wear sweaters all the time. And I could practice my German and get to know some of the family I have there.

Definitely, it is a city that I have to visit after I die.

Famous Cities. By Daniela Alam

 Chihuahua

It is located in the north of Mexico. It is located in the northwestern region of the country, bordered to the north by the states of New Mexico and Texas (United States), to the east by Coahuila, to the south by Durango, to the southwest by Sinaloa, and to the west by Sonora.

We liked the traditions, the food of that place, the colors, The part that we didn’t like was that we had to walk soooooo much.

We visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, Nombre de Dios caves, and Valley of the Monks.

We would go again to learn more, because at the time we had, although it was incredible, we did not do everything well.

Costa Rica

It is located in North America

It occupies the center of the Central American Isthmus. It limits to the east and northeast with the Caribbean Sea; to the west and south with the Pacific Ocean; to the southeast with Panama and to the north with Nicaragua.

We liked all the natural zones, all the green parts they have in reserve, and the zoo.

The thing we didn’t like was the food.
