Marathons
There are many well-known marathons around the world, and the Boston Marathon is one of the most important and recognized of them all.
It is the world’s oldest annual marathon, and the only one held on a Monday. Due to its historic importance, not everyone can sign up. The participant would have to have run a Boston qualifying time at least a year prior. Or they would have to be running for a fundraiser. Due to the marathon’s course, it doesn’t qualify for beating a world record. However, in 2011 Geoffrey Mutai won with a time of two hours, three minutes, and two seconds. Which was the fastest time then, but it did not qualify for a world record precisely because of said reason.
In conclusion, the Boston Marathon is very significant and recognized worldwide. Many people all around the world get together to either watch it or participate in it. It is definitely one you should not miss.
