THE CURE. By Amber Lee Bertens.

 The Cure

You’ve probably heard of the English band ‘’The Cure’’, they were even considered for a brief period back in 1989 the biggest band in the world. They have also sold out around 30 million album copies worldwide.

Robert Smith, who is the vocalist of this band, grew up in a Catholic atmosphere. He also used to go to a Catholic school, yet he isn’t Catholic nor follows any other religion. He met Mary Poole, his current wife when he was 14 years old at school, they got together because he had the courage to speak to her. He also came from a musical family, so now we know where his love for music came from.

It all started back in 1976, they started as ‘’Easy Curse’’ which was a band created by Robert Smith and his schoolmates. They started making their songs and they also gave free concerts to people, which led them to gain several fans. In 1978, they changed their band name to ‘’The Cure’’ and they were quickly signed to Chris Parry’s new label.

They had their debut album in 1979 called ‘’Three Imaginary Boys’’ and toured all over the UK. After all that, some members left the band and new ones joined. Throughout the years, they have sold out a lot of tours and they’ve gotten a lot of views on their videos, which makes them one of the most recognized rock bands in the world.

Robert Smith is a really humble person, and as far as I know, his bandmates are also really nice people. They’re one of the few artists I know who won’t let the fame get to their heads. They’ve been awarded at least six awards and they have sold 30 million albums as I mentioned before. I admire them a lot because they make really good music and yet they’re still very kind people, there are so many artists out there who lack kindness, so it feels nice to admire a band like The Cure.
